From July 4th to July 9th, 2024, Portland experienced an extreme heatwave, with daytime temperatures reaching over 100 degrees, and nighttime temps not dipping low enough to provide much relief. At least 17 people died across the state and many more experienced heat related illness and fatigue.
Centennial Commons Resilience Network responded to the extreme heat by attempting to fill in the gaps for heat relief in East Portland.
