Green Infrastructure/Shade Equity Workgroup Plan, 2026

Misty trees with big white text that reads "Let's Talk About Trees"

Our Purpose:

Lack of trees and shade plants throughout the neighborhoods impacts the health and well-being of residents of the City. Fourteen neighborhoods in District 1 are lacking trees and are below the 20% City standard. Lack of trees leads to higher levels of air pollution, dangerous heat islands at street intersections and poor habitat for residents, birds and animals.

This workgroup is dedicated to improving the tree cover through advocating for street trees to be planted on the commercial streets in District 1.
