Act Now to Support Community Resilience Hubs

Call Your Law Makers To Support Community Resilience Hubs!

To our East Portland community:

We need your help BY TUESDAY, JUNE 17! Lawmakers are considering adding another $10 million for Oregon’s Resilience Hubs and Networks. This funding could be lifesaving in the face of worsening ice storms, heat waves, wildfires, and wildfire smoke. Will you email lawmakers urging them to fund Community Resilience Hubs?
Oregon lawmakers in the Joint Ways and Means Committee need to hear from you that funding for a strong resilience and energy affordability package is important to you and your community.

Please use the script and photos below to post on your social media channels, and the email scripts and contact information to contact legislators who will be voting on this and need to hear from you! Every voice counts!
Thrive East PDX has already endorsed the bill, along with 22 other organizations, such as APANO, Verde, Unite Oregon, Multnomah County Office of Sustainability, and Rockwood Common Tool Library, among others.

We need your help. Right now, Oregon lawmakers are making budget decisions that will shape the next two years. They need to hear from you. Will you join us in a phonebank to lawmakers urging them to pass a strong Energy Affordability and Resilience Package?

we Need Your Help!

Many Oregonians are struggling to afford energy as rates continue to climb. Since 2021, PGE and Pacific Power have raised rates nearly 50%, and NW Natural has increased gas rates 40%, with more hikes expected this fall. In 2024 alone, for-profit utilities shut off power to nearly 70,000 households, including thousands of low-income families receiving aid.

These key programs are at risk without renewed investment:

  • Community Resilience Hubs: Provides another $10 million for Resilience Hubs and Networks. Resilience hubs could be lifesaving in the face of worsening ice storms, heat waves, wildfires, and wildfire smoke.
  • Rental Heat Pump Program: An incentive program for landlords to upgrade to energy-efficient heat pumps. Tenants enjoy lower energy bills and more comfort.
  • Community Heat Pump Deployment Program: An incentive program for low- & middle-income homeowners to upgrade to energy-efficient heat pumps, which provide affordable heat and cooling. This program needs reinvestment.

We need your voice to make sure these programs don’t run out of money. Call on legislators to pass the Energy Affordability and Resilience Package and invest in vital clean energy programs. Together, we can fight for real relief and energy justice for Oregon families.
